“We Need To Talk About Kevin”

March 9, 2013 @ 9:30 am - 1:30 pm

£15 – £20

Film Event followed by a talk and discussion with
Debbie Hindle

 Saturday 9th March 2013, 9.30am
At St. Mary’s Church, Bramall Lane, Sheffield, S2 4QZ

Lynne Ramsey’s film adaptation of Lionel Shriver’s book, full of suspense and psychological angst, sadly recently echoed in events at the Sandy Hook School, Connecticut where 20 children and 6 adults were mown down by a former pupil after he had shot his mother. Debbie will be offering a detailed analysis from a psychoanalytic perspective which we can anticipate to be both challenging and stimulating.

Dr. Debbie Hindle is a consultant child and adolescent psychotherapist, trained at the Tavistock Clinic. For the last ten years, she was Head of the Clinical Training in Child Psychotherapy at the Scottish Institute of Human Relations in Edinburgh and worked clinically in a specialist Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service in Glasgow for children who were fostered or adopted. She has written extensively, including two co-edited books – Personality Development: A Psychoanalytic Perspective and The Emotional Experience of Adoption: A Psychoanalytic Perspective.

 Coffee/tea from 9.30-9.45am
followed by a viewing of the film (just under 2 hours)

ending at 1.30pm.
