 “EYES WIDE SHUT”

 This was Stanley Kubrick’s last film which he directed, produced and co-wrote with Frederick Raphael, based on Arthur Schnitzler’s 1926 novella ‘Dream Story.’ Made in 1999, a British-American drama set in New York and filmed at Pinewood studios, starring Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman it is a highly charged drama about sexual relations.

 Geraldine Shipton is a Fellow of the British Psychoanalytic Society and former Senior Lecturer in Psychoanalytic Studies at the University of Sheffield.

 Coffee/tea from 9.30am
followed by a viewing of the film at 10.00am
with a break for lunch at 12.50pm
after which Geraldine will give her talk at 1.30pm
leaving time for a general discussion
ending at 2.45pm.
